About Penny

My name is Penny K Johnson. I have studied with Dr. Nelson Bentley at UW, Dr. David Powell at The Evergreen State College and both poet Beatrix Gates and novelist Michelene Ahoronian Marcom in the Goddard College MFA program in Pt. Townsend, Washington where I received my MFA in 2009. I won the Kirkwood Best Short Story competition from UCLA Extension in 2006. I taught creative writing at Swiat Jezykow in Bytom, Poland in 2008. I have worked as a psychiatric nurse at Harborview, which was voted top venue for avante-garde theatre by “The Stranger.” I was featured poet in “Bellowing Ark” as well as published in the magazines “Spillway”, “Spectacles”, “City Primeval”, “Pawn to Infinity” and “Signals”. I had a number of readings at UW, the Seattle Center and have competed in Poetry Slams. I lived in and drove an eighteen wheeler for five years with a man, two dogs and one cat. I currently live with one man, four dogs, one cat, twenty goats and two thoroughbred horses and one, two year old warm blood and assorted chickens in Ellensburg, Washington.
